edinburgh (big post)

I finally have something interesting to post about! Andy and I went up to Edinburgh for a couple days at the end of term. I was far too full of germs to see family but it was good to see the city as a tourist for once. So we hung out round Princes Street Gardens...

...did the museums...
...ate at a SOCIAL BUSINESS, I was so happy...

...escaped the winds for many pints...

...did the Grassmarket...
An Andrew in his natural habitat

...did the Scotch Whisky Experience and saw the world's largest private collection of Scotch Whisky, over 10,000 bottles collected over 4 decades by Claive Vidiz...

...also had a drink in their bar, it was rude not to (discovered 'my' whisky - a Dalmore 12yo)...

...did the Camera Obscura...

...and did the Castle. Walking up to it and looking without queueing to go in, naturally. We spent our last night at the Stand comedy club and had a bit of a hungover train journey yesterday.
'No one hurts me unpunished'

Home now. It's good to be warm and have a fridge full of food to hand. Wishing my other not-in-the-real-world-yet student friends a good Easter hol.

I think Saturday day just gone is up there in my best Saturdays ever. After almost a decade of waiting I got to see the Lion King on stage (the tickets were a present for Andy but were really a me-present..I'm far too like my Dad like that). We had seats in a box (some of the cheapest seats in the house dontcha know there jackson (hi keri)), and a member of the cast came into it for the opening of the second half to swing a pretend bird around. Impromptu trip to the BM in the morning to check up on the Elgins and see if this here doggy had a name written on his statue (sadly he didn't but it felt cool doing real-life dissertation research). Andy also found the penny farthing he'd been looking for all his life but decided it was too awkward to transport back on the train.
