brownies

My Mum visited today to take me out to lunch and deliver these pre-ordered goods..her homemade brownies. I don't know anything quite like them. She also brought me freshly made blueberry pancakes and enough pies to feed a family for a year from my Granny. We also ran the tea man on the market out of stock. So glad the good weather came back for a day, I was beginning to feel like my punishment for watching too much TV this term was an eternal winter. Trying my hand at Zumba in college tonight...could be interesting for everyone involved..

1 second a day

On the recommendation of my friend Marie I downloaded the app 1SE, which allows you to film 1 second of your day everyday for a set period of time and then mashes it into one video. I think it's a great idea. The app's a little slow in functioning but the end result is really cool. I've done a month so far and aim to do a year (a lot of exciting stuff happening in the next year - it would be cool to catch it all in this way). Sometimes I forget and upload some text or a photo instead. Here's Jan-Feb:

If you're interested here's the 1 second a day video of the guy who made the app. It made me teary.

puppies for christmas

I got to see my friend Matthew be awarded the 2013 Varsity Karate trophy yesterday which was pretty cool. Other than that I haven't been up to much at all - and in the misery of my essay this weekend I cheered myself up by watching people getting puppies for Christmas on youtube. These two were my absolute favourites, they just make me want to blubber. (Aunt Ailaine - I've given you my warning, you will cry if you watch these). Heavily hinting at next year's Christmas present if anyone's wondering. That's all folks. #lamepost #youtubeaddict.

innocent girton

Last night was one of the more surreal evenings I've had so far (they tend to keep happening in this city). Dan Germain, Creative Director at Innocent Drinks, came back as an alumnus to tell us the story of the foundation of Innocent. I couldn't wait to geek out all evening with my social enterprise hat on. He was a fantastic speaker and a terrific guy. I admit that I'm very easily inspired - I walk out of every careers event declaring I've found my new path in life, but getting to meet Dan and sit with him over a meal with my friends blew my mind. He was genuinely interested in all of us, willing to give advice all evening and remembered us all by name (huge brownie points in my book). He'd mentioned in his talk before we took him to formal dinner that before Innocent he'd interned at a small design agency in Leicester. This was still niggling me in the hall and I chanced to ask him what the name of that agency was. The mother-of-all coincidences then smacked me in the face; the tiny agency is in fact where Andy got his first job and is working now. He wants to get in touch to reminisce. What a lucky boyfriend to be going out with me eh? Anyway, I'm documenting the evening as I want it to stay with me for a while. If you're ever bored click onto their website or look at some of the stuff they share on twitter - it's pretty cool. For decoration I'm going to add a picture of my favourite smoothie.
